Practising Dentistry in Las Vegas: A Guide for International Dentists

Las Vegas is an unusual dental market because the city works around the clock. A large share of your patients will be on schedules that no conventional practice accommodates.
What the City Is Known For
The Strip, obviously — casinos, shows, restaurants and conventions that bring millions of visitors a year. Beyond it: Red Rock Canyon on the edge of town, the Mojave, and a residential city that most visitors never see.
What It's Like to Live There
Nevada has no state income tax and housing is affordable compared with neighbouring California, which is precisely why so many Californians relocated here. Summers are extreme — desert heat for months. The outdoor season is winter and spring.

The city has a dental school, which anchors the professional community and referral networks. Nevada licensure requirements should be confirmed with the Nevada State Board of Dental Examiners.
The hospitality economy shapes practice patterns directly. A workforce that finishes shifts at 2am cannot attend a 9am appointment, and practices that offer early, late or weekend hours capture patients that conventional schedules miss. There is also a visitor-driven emergency stream: people on holiday with a broken tooth, needing same-day treatment and unlikely to return for follow-up.
Who Your Patients Will Be
A large service workforce — hospitality, gaming, construction — with variable insurance and irregular hours. Substantial Spanish-speaking and Filipino communities. A growing retiree population drawn by the tax position and the cost of living, bringing more complex restorative and prosthodontic needs.
Expect more single-visit, problem-focused attendance than in a stable suburban market, and correspondingly more effort required to convert emergency patients into recall patients.
Before You Commit
Las Vegas rewards flexibility on hours and comfort with emergency dentistry. The tax position and cost of living are genuinely attractive; the summers and the transience are the trade.
